I’m also a blogger and writer living in the West Midlands. I’ve got a degree in War Studies from King’s College London, but I’ve decided to forgo a career as a barbarian and do words instead.
I’ve completed three modules with the Open University in Creative Writing. I blog for Pink Wedding Days on the subject of same-sex marriage and civil partnerships. In 2016 and 2018, I was shortlisted for a UK Blog Award in the weddings and events category. I also blog for EarHugz about gyms and fitness and sweating.
My scene review for Letter to Brezhnev was published in World Film Locations: Liverpool in 2013. My short fiction has been published in Mslexia, Ellipsis Magazine’s Two and Ink Pantry’s Sea of Ink. I was a runner-up in The Berlin Reader’s short fiction competition for my story ‘The Girl Last Summer’. I was awarded second place for my piece ‘Home for the Holidays’ in the Brilliant Flash Fiction competition. You can read my story ‘Swell’ which won the Modern Art by Post monthly competition in 2017.
In October 2017, I read two short pieces at the Literary Allsorts event as part of the Birmingham Literature Festival. I’ve also read work in Berlin.
I’m very proud to be part of Writing West Midlands Room 204 Writers Development Programme.
My most treasured possession (other than my cat) is my passport. It’s taken me to some pretty amazing places including North Korea*. I’ve trekked to the top of Kilimanjaro and through the Himalayas to Everest Base Camp. I lived in Moscow for 9 months. I’ve been fortunate enough to spend time in India, China, Australia, Brazil, Argentina, Nepal and Malaysia to name a few.
I’m aiming to tick Chernobyl off my bucket list this summer.
I’ve just started yoga. I have a little black cat who is my absolute BFF. Africa by Toto is the GREATEST song of all time.
